The history of Valdivieso has two constant principles: tradition and innovation. Both interact since its genesis in 1879, the year in which Mr. Alberto Valdivieso, started the production of sparkling wines from grape varieties brought from Europe several years earlier. The wine making process of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes using the traditional French method of bottle fermentation, gave birth to the first sparkling wine production house in Chile and South America, Champagne Alberto Valdivieso S.A., named today Viña Valdivieso S.A., a consolidated brand, leader in its category in the region, and present in European and Asian markets.
The interest in new challenges has led the company to participate in the production of high quality still wines since the 1950s, coming from the best terroirs in Chile and produced at the Lontué winery in the Curicó Valley. Honesty, service, commitment and teamwork are the values that guide the work and standards of Viña Valdivieso S.A., giving the company’s management its own style, which is increasingly respectful of the rights of each worker, and who, aware of their duties, in turn contribute with harmony and satisfaction to the firm.
The company’s commitment for sustainable development in the production of high quality sparkling wines and wines, emphasizes in five fundamental aspects:
1. Respect for all people, whether they are employees, contractors, customers, suppliers, authorities and the community; without discrimination of any kind: gender, religion, race or sexual orientation; that is to say, there is no abusive or discriminatory propaganda used against individuals or groups, and child labour is prohibited.
2. Compliance with current legislation and voluntary commitments:
I. Regarding safety, permanent control of all types of risks involving the health of employees, contractors and the community, while always maintaining fair labour practices with its workers.
II. Regarding professional development for employees, there are incentives to participate in training programs aimed at improving efficiency, increasing productivity and quality, environmental care and their personal growth.
3. Sustained development of clean labour practices, with low environmental impact, through the improvement of good practices such as: reduction of the amount of waste and greenhouse gas emissions, efficient use of energy and water, compliance with current legislation and creation of our own initiatives, thus maintaining our commitment on environmental care.
4. Teamwork; permanent improvement towards sustainability, good interpersonal relationships with workers, contractors, customers and suppliers; harmonious co-existence with the community and a long-term strategic vision; are all objectives to transform Viña Valdivieso S.A. into a sustainable company through time.
5. As to our customers and suppliers, it is forbidden to use unethical sales and purchase practices, in which, for example, pressure, deceit or undue influence is used.
The history of Viña Valdivieso S.A. shows the company’s constant commitment to innovation, a principle that currently embrasses the commitment to sustainability, as an intrinsic value of its administration.
